Abstract: The lead-clad glass fiber composites have become an important kind of composite reinforced by long fibers owing to their wide applications in various fields, including grid plates in new type lead-acid batteries for electric vehicles and grid plates for radiation protection and sound insulation. The microstructures and properties of continuous composite fibers fabricated by coating extrusion process, whose diameters were 1.0mm and 0.8mm respectively, were investigated extensively. The results show that the tensile strengths obtained by different process parameters are quite distinct. When the number of reinforced fibers is 600, the tensile strength and resistivity are 65MPa and 3.162×10-7Ω·m, respectively; while the tensile strength and resistivity are 115MPa and 3.215×10-7Ω·m as the number of reinforced fibers is 1800.
